Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the desire and concept of community. Perhaps community is in the biospheres. To me it seems to be more essential than ever – community transcends individual differences.
I am aware of when community works and when it doesn’t. When it does work, I feel included, I want to listen as much as I want to share.
When it doesn’t work I feel like a round peg trying to fit in a square hole.
In the early 90’s, by way of feminine based religions, I learned that a working community accepts that rules and boundaries may have to change in order to avoided dogma and power abuse. This calls for a lot of communication.
And now awareness of community has come into my circles again. I’m seeing community (or lack of) everywhere, in all my interactions, out in public, with my friends, and even in my latest Dancing the Tarot workshops!
Last month, I saw how sharing card readings, witnessing each other’s dances and the processing afterwards created a community. As a result, transformation and healing occurred.
My hope is for more community and communication in everyone’s life.
If you’d like to join in to my sense of community, please come this Fall. It’s right around the corner.
